Panchakarma :

Panchakarma is acknowledged as a rejuvenation therapy in Ayurveda. The Pancha (Five) and Karma (Action), is a path towards preventing diseases. It comprises of five treatment techniques, which aides in restoring the physical and mental equilibrium of a patient, and also revitalizes them.

The Panchakarma technique ensures both short-term as well as long-term wellness of an individual. It is a unique treatment as it exempts an individual from suffering from any kind of risk or side-effects as compared to modern-day drugs.

Five Treatment Techniques Of Panchakarma :

  • Vamana (medically induced emesis): This treatment begins with an internal- external oleation and fomentation therapy. This step liquefies the toxins, and the toxins then accumulate in the upper cavities of the body. The patient is then given a decoction and an emetic medicine. The treatment can induce vomiting, which helps in eliminating the toxins from the body tissues. Vamana therapy is prescribed for kapha-dominated conditions such as asthma, obesity, and certain skin diseases.
  • Virechana (medically induced purgation): The Virechana therapy helps eliminate toxins from the body through the evacuation of bowels. After treating the patients with internal-external oleation and fomentation therapy; an herbal laxative is provided to expedite the evacuation of bowels. This in turn, helps cleanse the body of toxins. This treatment is recommended for pitta-dominated conditions such as jaundice, eczema, colitis, hormonal problems, psoriasis, etc.
  • Nasya (nasal drops): The nasya treatment helps clear the head region. The treatment begins with a gentle massage around the head and shoulder region. The next step is to administer nasal drops on both of the nostrils to help cleanse the head region. This treatment is prescribed for relieving headaches, sleep problems, migraine, sinusitis, neurological disorders, etc.
  • Basti: This treatment helps cure chronic and complicated diseases. It has incredible positive effects, and is effective against conditions such as piles, arthritis, hormonal imbalance, etc.
  • Rakthamokshan: As the name suggests, this treatment has been proven effective against diseases caused by impure blood. It is recommended for cleansing impure blood and is useful in curing skin diseases, pigmentation, varicose, etc.
